Predator: Killer of Killers Review: We will survive

PREDATOR: KILLER OF KILLERS (2025)

A few years ago, Dan Trachtenberg gave us Predator (1987-) franchise fans a refreshing entry with Prey (2022). Like Assassins Creed (the game), the franchise delved into another era and explored how human warriors of old might fare against the Yautja. The call came cirqua 1719, to the Comanche warrior Naru, who took a stand against the alien hunters in order to protect her tribe. Like many of you out there who share my obsession with all things Predator, I started to wonder what other past warrior types could have a chance against Arnie’s old nemesis. Lucky for us Trachtenberg shares this wonderment and we are treated to Predator: Killer of Killers (2025), an Arcane-esque (2021-2024) animated film, heavy on the gore and quick to the action with predators battling vikings, ninjas, samurai and pilots? Each of the vignettes is action-packed, however the third (titled: The Bullet) is the weakest in my opinion, but it works well for the narratives eventual convergence. The second story (The Sword) more than makes up for this minor shortcoming with an engrossing tale of two taciturn brothers pitted against each other during Japan’s shogunate period. With Trachtenberg helming the highly anticipated Predator: Badlands (currently slated for November 2025) it feels like there’s no better time to be a lifelong Predator fan.

WATCH OR NOT: WATCH

Additional musings: I would love to see Predtator: Killer of Killers as a series (similar to Marvel’s What if…?, only R-rated), with each episode treating us to more warrior battles at different times in history.
